After the confines of his school years, Stefan Zweig is drawn to Paris, where he encounters countless artists and writers, from Rilke to Baudelaire. The musical programme is curated by pianist Sergey Tanin, prizewinner of the Géza Anda Competition and the Queen Elisabeth Competition, and is interwoven with Zweig’s experiences in Paris as well as with poems by authors from his circle.

Biography

Pianist Sergey Tanin gained widespread recognition in Europe following the broadcast of a Swiss television documentary about his life. His international career began in 2018, when he was awarded both the Prize and the Audience Prize at the Géza Anda Competition in Zurich. Tanin’s close connection with Switzerland has since been strengthened through performances in renowned venues such as the Stadtcasino Basel and the Tonhalle Zurich.

In 2023, Tanin’s artistic focus on Sergei Rachmaninoff, marking the composer’s 150th anniversary, led to his participation in the 3sat documentary My Rachmaninoff. In 2025, he became a prizewinner at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.

Sergey Tanin has given recitals in major concert halls including the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Mariinsky Concert Hall, the Salle Molière in Lyon, and the Great Hall of the St Petersburg Philharmonic. He has appeared at international festivals such as Beethovenfest Bonn, the Bregenz Festival, Kissinger Sommer, Musikdorf Ernen, and many others. In 2020, Tanin won both the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Kissinger Piano Olymp, and in 2021 he was invited to perform as a soloist with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra under Jakub Hrůša.
