With Smetana’s The Moldau, Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, and Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, the concert featuring Camille Thomas—one of the most captivating cellists of her generation—promises to be a true festival highlight. The Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein accompanies Camille Thomas under the direction of Taiwanese-American conductor Mei-Ann Chen, regarded as one of the most versatile and dynamic artists in her field today.

The young Franco-Belgian cellist is the first in over 40 years to sign with Deutsche Grammophon, one of the world's most prestigious classical music labels. Her personality and style are marked by optimism, vitality, and exuberance. In 2014, she was awarded the ECHO Klassik Prize as “Young Artist of the Year.”

Camille Thomas plays a rare Stradivari cello from 1730, generously provided by the Nippon Music Foundation.

By the way: Her world premiere recording of Fazıl Say’s Never Give Up—a concerto for cello and orchestra composed in response to the terrorist attacks in Paris and Istanbul—on her second album Voice of Hope for Deutsche Grammophon creates an indirect Vaduz Classic connection to the festival’s opening concert with Fazıl Say.
