Three biographies, one sound: David Orlowsky, born in Tübingen and trained at the Folkwang University of the Arts and in Manhattan, is regarded—through his award-winning albums—as a clarinet voice ranging from Mozart to klezmer. Daniel Stelter, a guitarist who defies fixed categories, has toured with artists such as Al Jarreau and teaches in Mainz and Frankfurt. Tommy Baldu, once performing in stadiums with Six Was Nine and now a groove inventor and studio producer, unites energy with finesse. Their common ground: the trio as a meeting place for three storytellers—virtuosic, open, and electrifying. The concert program “Petrichor” is conceived as a kind of “scent album.” The title refers to the term describing the smell that arises when rain falls on dry earth. From Orlowsky’s synesthetic perception emerge eleven pieces, each dedicated to a particular scent and place: Lisboa, Magnolia, Sunscreen, Gasoline, Marrakesh, or Circus. The music unfolds like a film through memories, moments of freedom, and worlds of imagination—often calm, sometimes melancholic, yet always consoling and intense. Sound colors become fragrance notes; words fall silent where the mind’s cinema begins.
